It was an absolutely perfect fall day on Saturday, October 19th. The weather was perfect for WTMD’s free Towson Rock Block which featured Post Pink, Jealous of the Birds, and Ex Hex. This was the third year for the Towson Rock Block and quite a crowd came out for food, drinks, music, and fun!
The afternoon music kicked off with Baltimore’s own Post Pink. Post Pink are a 4-piece post punk band who deliver songs that pack a punch. Their songs are fast paced and get right to the point. They opened up with an energetic set that really warmed things up for the rest of the evening!
Up next was Belfast’s Jealous of the Birds. Naomi Hamilton lead her band in lyrically beautiful songs that range in genre. Hamilton gave a shout out to all the dogs who were present the day of Towson Rock Block, commenting that “we love all of you but we definitely welcome the puppies!” Her friendly demeanor on stage was very welcoming, and I’m sure she and the band gained some new followers after their performance on Saturday!
Closing out WTMD’s Towson Rock Block was D.C.’s Ex Hex, which features Mary Timony, Betsy Wright, Laura Harris and Michelle Mae, of The Make-Up, who recently joined the group on bass. The fact that this was a free show was quite a treat, as this band regularly fills venues such as Ottobar and Black Cat. These women really rocked this party and performed just over an hour of songs.
Baltimore is lucky to have such a great radio station that offers free music events that feature local and nationally recognized artists. Thanks WTMD for all you do to support music!
