The Front Bottoms: New Album, New Concert Experience

It has been 5 months since my last concert. This Covid life adjustment has been challenging coming from someone who attended shows on a weekly basis. Live-stream performances have been a nice change of pace; however, there really is nothing like a live performance. A few bands have been developing creative ways to get back out and perform in front of a live audience and one of these creative ways is a drive-in concert. Andrew McMahon, Third Eye Blind, and Grace Potter have all recently performed at drive-in shows and they seem to be met with success.

The Front Bottoms, definitely a top 10 favorite band, announced their east coast drive-in tour and will be performing in Philadelphia on August 23. This is the first band to perform close to home and since they are one of my favorites, I picked up a ticket to see this show. I have mixed emotions because everything I love about live performances is counterproductive to social distancing; however, adaptation is often necessary – so I decided to give this new version of live music a try!

In addition to the excitement of hearing a live performance for the first time in over 5 months, The Front Bottoms have new material that they will likely be performing at the concert. A few months ago, they performed their new song, “Everyone Blooms” on Twitch, which I loved! They have since released two more singles and the album is available to pre-order on their website. You can listen to the new songs on Spotify below.
