Hot August Music Festival Turns Up the Heat at Oregon Ridge

The Hot August Music Festival at Oregon Ridge in Cockeysville, Maryland has been going strong for nearly 30 years!  After not having a festival last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, festivalgoers were eager to get back to the lawn, and in addition to the great food and activities for both kids and kids-at-heart, the musical line up was pretty fantastic!

The lineup this year included headliners Greensky Bluegrass and a blistering set by Austin’s Shakey Graves. There was also blues king Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, who marveled at the Mississippi heat here on a Sunday afternoon in Maryland while he not only tore up the stage but took his show into the crowd, playing face-to-face with dancing fans.

Then there were New Orleans favorites, Dumpstaphunk, who brought soul, funk, and more sweat than you can believe along with a surprise guest, Baltimore’s own Cris Jacobs, who, story be told, was picked up from his porch to shake things up on their way to the festival.

And if that wasn’t enough, young guitar legend Ally Venable who kept things cool in the hot sun. And the craziness of Andy Frasco and the UN. And rounding things out there were local faves Never Never; Tom Petty tribute rockers, Petty Coat Junction; and the sounds of the Grateful Dead via Dancing Bears.
