White Rose Music Fest – York, PA

The White Rose Music Fest was announced towards the end of summer and as soon as we saw the line-up, we grabbed tickets and blocked off the weekend to enjoy this outdoor music festival in York, PA. For those who don’t know, York has some decent spots for music, and the local baseball minor league team has a beautiful stadium for hosting outdoor events!

The White Rose Music Fest was a two-day event with 4 bands on Friday evening and 5 bands throughout the afternoon and into Saturday evening. Headlining on Friday evening was country artist Jamey Johnson with Grace Potter closing out the festival Saturday night. Both bands have a solid fan base and tend to draw a crowd.

The weather last weekend was pretty decent fall temperatures, and although Saturday was a bit on the chilly side, the sun was out in full force, keeping everyone warm. Friday’s line-up kicked off with Brittney Spencer, a rising musician right out of Baltimore. She performed with amazing energy as the crowd rolled in after a long day of work. Langhorne Slim followed her performance and while the crowd at the front of the stage was small, he played to them as if there were a thousand people at the front of the stage! Those who came early for his set got to see this artist up close and personal! As the sun set on Friday evening, the temperatures dropped and a breeze rolled in but the crowd was fired up for back-to-back country music sets by Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors and Jamey Johnson.

Things started a bit slow on Saturday. Opener, Madeline Edwards got a late start due to some sound issues and her set was cut short a bit. Lucero and Margo Price provided powerful sets as the crowds started to roll in. Margo Price really put on a great show! To close out the festival, two of our favorite artists, The Wood Brothers and Grace Potter kept us warm in the chilly evening air. The Wood Brothers commented about how great the venue was and how they hoped the festival would take place again next year. Grace Potter fans lined the stage and sang along to every song of her set and, as always, she totally rocked out and gave us all the energy we’ve grown to expect from her!

While this was the first year of the festival and attendance was a bit low, we are hoping this festival takes place again next year in York, PA. This place is a bit of a hidden gem with so much potential for music festivals! It’s also very easily accessible from Harrisburg and Baltimore! Those who attended will likely agree, it was a great two day festival with amazing musicians and we are glad we were there to capture every minute!
