Dead Horse Revival at Wehrly’s Auction House

Last Sunday afternoon, I had pleasure of seeing and listening to Dead Horse Revival at Wehrlys Auction House. Three of the members, Scott Matlock(fiddle), Cory Woodcock(banjo) and Chance Hurley(guitar) left over from The Mountain Ride days, have stayed together playing bluegrass for years now.

The welcome addition of standup bass player Katie Powderly, has rounded out the band with her vocal backings and fronting some tunes while pounding on the bass strings. Basically traditional bluegrass but a few country songs mixed in, like Katie singing a nice rendition of Dolly’s Jolene. The nice afternoon crowd also had a costume contest at set break with Scott looking like The “Joker” from the most recent movie. All in all the band was really good and lots of promise with the addition of Katie. I’m looking forward to seeing them again. Enjoy these photos from the performance.
