Summertime Concerts are are in Full Swing – 311 hits Merriweather Next Saturday

Next Saturday, July 27th, 311 will grace the stage of Merriweather Post Pavilion as we round out our July show coverage. This show is going to be one of summer’s best concerts, so make sure you go and fight off this heat with some great music! Gates opening at 4:20 PM (yes, you read that correctly) so be sure to get there early and enjoy the music. Here is what you have to look forward to…

Bikini Trill

Surf Pop in the Summer… Bikini Trill will open the evening at Merriweather. They bring their summer-style music to Maryland all the way from California. You will enjoy their set which will surely set the mood for the evening! Enjoy a video of Bikini Trill and make sure you get out to Merriweather early so you can enjoy their set!

DREAMERS

I am going to be honest. I bought floor tickets to this show just so I could be front and center for this set! While I’m looking forward to photographing these guys again, I am truly excited for their set. DREAMERS are a 3-piece band who have been rocking the airwaves with their power pop anthems such as “Sweet Disaster” and “Wolves (You Got Me)”. Last year, I missed their show at Union Stage – which sold out (not surprisingly), so I made sure to catch them at 930 Club when they opened for You Me at Six.

Currently, they are supporting their newest release, Launch Fly Land. Their first single from this album, “Die Happy”, is power pop at it’s best and currently one of my favorite songs. Pop rock bands come and go; however, these guys are going to be around for awhile. They are truly talented musicians and songwriters and you will want to get out to Merriweather early to catch their set!

If you’d like to learn more about DREAMERS, check out my review of their show back in February at the 930 Club here! Also, listen to their newest single, “Die Happy” below!

The Inerrupters

Ska-Punk, Classic Jamaican, Punk Power… these are words used to describe The Inerrupters. This band has been making music since 2011. The band is comprised of three brothers: Kevin, Justin, and Jesse Bivona along with singer/song-writer, Aimee Allen. Their most recent album, Fight the Good Fight, was released in the spring of 2018. I’m really looking forward to checking out this band and hearing this song live! Check it out:

Dirty Heads

Dirty Heads formed in 2008 in Orange County, California. Their music blends alternative, hip-hop, reggae, and rock. They take the stage right before 311 and I’m sure they’ll get the crowd in the mood for the headlining act! Take a look at “Lift Me Up”, the latest single from their upcoming release, Super Moon.

311

Ahhhh… where do I begin with 311? I have been to countless 311 shows going way back to the late 90’s. My first 311 album was the self-titled 1995 release (also known as the Blue Album) and I loved every song. In the late 90’s several of their songs were on constant rotation on the radio. I have been a fan of every album since – including their latest release, Voyager.

311 has been creating music for 30 years (crazy). Their songs contain the fantastic vocal harmonies of Nick Hexum and Doug “S.A.”, as well as, a blend of reggae, rock, and punk. As 311 moves into their next decade, their latest album, Voyager, hints to the bands’ interest in exploring new sounds.

In looking at previous tour date set-lists, fans can expect to hear the classic favorites from 311 such as “Down”, “All Mixed Up”, and “Beautiful Disaster” – and the group drum solo which is always been my favorite part of their shows! They scatter their newer songs throughout the set-list to keep the fans engaged in the show, and I think that’s smart. Although, I wouldn’t mind hearing some of their new songs live! Check out “Don’t You Worry” and “Good Feeling” below. I think these two are my favorite from the album.

It’s summer. It’s Merriweather. It’s 311. It’s a SATURDAY!

Get your tickets to this show now and come have fun with us! It will be a great night! Make sure to get there early!
