These Subtle Sounds

A place for music lovers

Sebadoh at The Black Cat, DC

Old school indie rockers, Sebadoh, are out on tour in support of their most recent studio album, Act Surprised. A much loved band of my youth, I was sure to catch Sebadoh on the main stage at Black Cat in DC on July 23, 2019.

Sebadoh, never straying from their musical roots, played a heartfelt set of catchy rock songs mostly off the bands newest release. They did however mix a bit of distorted 90’s melancholy into their set.  Following a short break for tuning and more beer, singer-songwriter, Lou Barlow, hit the stage with bassist/guitarist/vocalist Jason Lowenstein, and drummer Bob D’Amico wowing the crowd with some Sebadoh classics and fan favorites.

The final encore included friendly banter between band and audience, and a few great Sebadoh songs including Magnet’s Coil, License to Confuse, Rebound, Ocean, and Brand New Love.
