The Flaming Lips are known for their explosive live shows, but they tend to reserve the biggest and best for their New Year’s Eve celebrations. And this year these purveyors of psychedelic pop are kicking off 2026 at The Anthem!
In what is sure to be the most talked about event for months to come, The Flaming Lips are taking the stage for their annual Freakout in DC on, well, December 31 and they are bringing DC native Bartees Strange along for the ride.
For those in the know, The Flaming Lips’ New Year’s Freakout often include massive surprises. Past Freakouts have included full album performances such as The Soft Bulletin and Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon, special guest appearances, and more balloons and confetti than any one person can imagine.
