Hot Rod Mule brought their brand of bluegrass to Wrightsville, PA at The Burning Bridge Tavern Saturday night. The tavern is aptly named after the bridge that once spanned the Susquehanna River until 1863 when the Union militia burnt it down to thwart the advancement of the confederate troops trying to move towards Harrisburg and Philadelphia. The tavern itself is a nice venue for live music with a large selection of craft beer and a tasty menu. The trip to the venue was made complete with a night of great music by Hot Rod Mule.
Hot Rod Mule is a band, local to Central PA, which covers some traditional bluegrass from “Gensing Sullivan”, “I Ain’t Broke but Badly Bent”, and “Little Maggie” to Alice in Chains’ “Rooster” and Dolly’s “Jolene”. Jesse Greenwood is featured on guitar, Mark Seitz on Mandolin, Keri Seitz Miller on vocals and mandolin, Dean Phillips on banjo, and the ever-talented Steve Streett on bass.
This band has a great time on stage and engages the audience with every tune. Keri’s vocal filled the tavern during “Jolene” as well as “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” originally performed by Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty. The rest of the band filled in with harmonies making for a perfect sound! A crowd favorite of the night was the band’s rendition of “7 Bridges Road” by The Eagles. Throughout the night, the musicians often changed up instruments, truly demonstrating their talent as musicians.
