Gov’t Mule Brings Soulshine to a Stormy Night in Baltimore

On July 11th at MECU Pavilion, the night began with lightning and heavy downpours. As the opening band The Record Company started their set, so did the sky. Unfortunately the lightning cut short their set. As the evening rolled on Gov’t Mule took the stage, kicking off the show with “Bad Little Doggie”. Warren Haynes gives a quick smile to his bandmates. We knew the weather was not going to dampen this night at MECU Pavilion.

The set was a beautiful mix of their original music and some covers that were electric, from Elton Johns “Have Mercy on the Criminal” to Blind Willie Jonhson’s “Dark was the Night, Cold was the Ground”. But the moment that would make the hair stand up on your neck was the Etta James classic “I’d rather go Blind” with a guitar solo that make you realize how special this band really is.

This night began with storms and bad downpours and ended with the bright light of music from a band that was night going to let anything stop their revival!
