Frank Thompson’s Top Shows of 2019

This was my first year photographing and reviewing shows for “These Subtle Sounds”. In this year, I’ve learned a lot, and I am grateful to “These Subtle Sounds” and for the artists I was fortunate to photograph.

Delfest

I started out the year with Delfest. Delfest is always a great time and the McCoury family and staff are very accommodating. From the Del McCoury Band to Tyler Childers and Marcus King to Billy Strings, it’s always a diverse lineup every year. This is definitely a highlight for me each year and 2019 was no different.

Third Eye Blind with Jimmy Eat World

I also enjoyed Third Eye Blind with Jimmy Eat World at Merriweather, although this show was a bit difficult to photograph.

Greensky Bluegrass with Cris Jacobs

Next up was Greensky Bluegrass with Cris Jacobs Band at MECU Pavillion. Greensky always brings a great show and with local “Baltimorean”, Cris Jacobs, it was a great night in Baltimore.

Elizabeth Cook with Will Hoge

Elizabeth Cook with Will Hoge at The Soundry was amazing and definitely in my top shows of the year.

Del McCoury Band with Ghost Sugar

Del McCoury Band with Ghost Sugar was my last show of 2019 and it was very entertaining.

The year 2019 was a mix of bluegrass, rock and country; just the way I like it! Hopefully the year to come will be bigger and better for me.
