On a warm summer’s evening what better place to drive than through Baltimore County and across the Big Falls Creek into this historic My Lady’s Manor. This area rich in history and is home to many historic buildings, including The Loft at Manor Mill, which was my destination for that evening to witness the band Colebrook Road.
The five-member bluegrass band took to the stage after a brief introduction by Mill owner Angelo and proceeded to tear down the house. The sold out crowd enthusiastically cheered their approval after each song.
Frontman and guitarist Jesse Eisenbise and fiddler Joe McNulty provided some insights to the songwriting process and a few interesting and humorous stories. Mark Rast and Wade Yankey on banjo and mandolin provided some killer instrumentals as bassist Jeff Campbell kept the lines flowing picking on his bass.
The Harrisburg, Pennsylvania five-piece performed many original songs this evening along with a few selected covers including one with special guest Kevin Rast, Mark’s brother and banjo player, with a great rendition of “White Freightliner Blues,” after which the enthusiastic crowd would not let the band leave without at least one more song. For an encore, they covered one of my favorite songs “99 Years for One Dark Day”.

If you ever have the chance to get out to see the band Colebrook Road, don’t hesitate at the opportunity you will not be disappointed. For that matter, if you ever have a chance to get to the Manor Mill in Monkton, Maryland also seize that opportunity when possible. Manor Mill not only hosts a music venue (The Loft), but it houses an art gallery and provides many classes to folks who would like to enrich their skills in the arts. They will provide classes for things like musical instruction to welding, sustained glass and many other activities. Well worth a visit anytime even if there’s not a musical performance.

Nice work. Stage lighting is difficult to deal with and these are really nice and sharp.
