Clutch Rocks The Great Frederick Fair Grandstand – 9/20/25

The Great Frederick Fair did it again with an amazing schedule of fun activities and a line-up of musical artists that was outmatched. And headlining the festival’s Saturday night was Maryland’s own hard rocking quartet, Clutch.

The band has released 13 studio albums over its nearly 35 year career, and fans were treated to a little bit of everything from Clutch’s debut, Transnational Speedway League: Anthems, Anecdotes and Undeniable Truths, with “Walking in the Great Shining Path of Monster Trucks” to the heavy tones of “Slaughter Beach from their latest full-length Sunrise on Slaughter Beach.

Hitting the stage, the band of Neil Fallon (vocals), Tim Sult (lead guitar), Dan Maines (bass), and Jean-Paul Gaster (drums) came out strong with crowd favorite “The Mob Goes Wild” from Blast Tyrant. In fact, a good chunk of the set was devoted to the album as the band celebrated Blast Tyrant’s 20th anniversary with a recently remastered release.

Front man, Fallon prowled the massive stage like an itinerant tent revival preacher as the thudding distorted tones washed over the crowd.

If you’ve never witnessed a Clutch performance before, it’s hard to explain the way this band pulls you in and holds on. With infectious riffs and Fallon almost beckoning the audience to join them as they sang along, it was certainly an experience.

The band ended with one of the best Clutch rockers, “The Regulator,” before returning to encore “Electric Worry” and “The Wolf Man Kindly Requests…”

Clutch continue their tour through the Winter with stops in Florida before heading to Europe.
