Throughout my time with NPR, Shawn and I followed a music blog, The Vinyl District. Shawn had suggested that I reach out to them and ask to be a contributor. When I emailed, I was immediately welcomed and was given complements about my work. I discovered that Jon, the editor of The Vinyl District (TVD), and I shared similar musical tastes. Two artists in particular we both admired, The Joy Formidable and The Cure!

I enjoyed working with Jon and I have been able to cover many amazing shows for The Vinyl District. The Cure and The Joy Formidable became my signature bands and anytime either of those bands came around, I was sure to be covering them for TVD. I also had the pleasure of photographing The Joy Formidable at Som Records. (You can check the full coverage, including a video, on The Vinyl District here!) The Cure came to New York City for their Reflections tour and I had the pleasure of photographing their show at The Beacon Theater!

Another highlight of my time with Jon and TVD was arranging for Grace Potter to join us at Som Records for a video interview and photo shoot. I had the pleasure of covered her shows with another photographer friend at the time. I suggested that we do a Som Record Store segment with Grace when she came by the 930 Club. Jon was on board, so we made the arrangements and had a great time with Grace Potter! She even complimented me on the dress I wore that day! You can see the full coverage of that awesome day on The Vinyl District, here.

Believe it or not, I did cover other shows for The Vinyl District besides these three artists. I had the pleasure of photographing Austin City Limits for TVD. Coincidentally, both The Cure and The Joy Formidable were on the line-up! However, I photographed so many amazing performances at that festival and it has become my favorite from the past decade! The gallery below highlights some of my favorite images from that festival, as well as, other shows I covered for The Vinyl District! (You can see the full collection, here). My time with Jon and TVD isn’t over, as we hope to be covering some shows in Glasgow this summer! More on that to come!
