On a cool winter night in York, PA. I found myself heading to The Appell Center for the Performing Arts, which is celebrating a Century of the Strand Theatre, to see Margo Price. The Appell Center is the jumping off point to her Wild at Heart Tour.

Opening the evening was Sean Thompson’s Weird Ears. This opening trio of Thompson, Alec Newman on bass, and Brandon Combs on drums, also served as the core for Margo‘s band.  Sean on lead guitar belted out a few tunes and showed off his mastery on the electric guitar. 

After a short intermission, Margo Price took to the stage adorned with her signature Gibson. In addition to Sean Thompson’s Weird Ears, she was joined by Bay-area artist Logan Ledger on guitar, himself an established singer songwriter. 

Margo commanded the center of the stage along with a duo on one mic with Logan Ledger and a one mic trio also with Logan and guitar player Sean. Margo did most of her own music with a few exceptions. The encore included a spirited cover of Dylan‘s “Maggie‘s Farm’ after which she appeared with a bouquet of roses which she threw into the crowd. This made such a great touch, while Logan Ledger also performed his song “All the Wine in California”.

It was such a great night with awesome music. As a testament to graciousness, Margo did not leave until every fan was greeted and walked away either with a picture together or an autograph.
