These Subtle Sounds

A place for music lovers

Photo Recap: Drowning Pool at the Orpheum, Tampa

This past Thursday night I found myself making the trek to Tampa to catch Drowning Pool at The Orpheum. The Orpheum is a quaint venue in historic Ybor City.  Its size allows for an intimacy with the performing bands that many other venues lack.

This night had 5 local bands getting the crowd warmed up: Murder The Crow, Throne, Up From Here, Deceptive Intruder, and NomVdic (pronounced Nomadic) all took the stage and rocked heir sets.  It was an intense mix of that went from heavy growler metal to more “pop” sounding rock. Each band put all they had on that stage and the energy was contagious.

Drowning Pool took the stage at a little after 10 pm and even though the crowd was a bit thin, they rocked as if they were performing to a sold-out crowd.   All photos copyright and courtesy of Chris Cornett.
