We are looking forward to this month’s First Thursday by WTMD on June 6th. Last month’s First Thursday was a huge success! The weather was perfect and the bands delivered outstanding performances! David LaMason covered the May 2nd festival, and you can see the coverage here! June 6th will feature some amazing artists on two stages at Canton Waterfront Park. Take a look at the talent that you will see next week!
The War and Treaty
This dynamic duo has roots in D.C. but have experienced very different paths to music. Their individual stories are pretty impressive. Tanya has been writing music since she was a child. Michael discovered his musical talent while serving in the army overseas in Iraq. The two met at a festival after having developed their own musical careers. Together they are The War and Treaty and this is a performance you do not want to miss!
Eli “Paperboy” Reed
Eli “Paperboy” Reed is a younger artist that embodies the ageless elements of southern soul, funk, blues and gospel. He is known for releasing singles the “good ole way”: 45 RPM singles. This artist has a classic sound that everyone will enjoy!
Tyler Ramsey
Tyler Ramsey may be best known for his time spent with Band of Horses; however, he is a talented songwriter in his own right. He spends his time creating music while close to nature and this close connection with a simple way of life comes through in his songs. You will enjoy winding down and relaxing with Ramsey’s performance on June 6th.
Sunflower Bean
I had the pleasure of seeing Sunflower Bean perform at The Anthem earlier this year when they opened for Interpol. This three-piece from New York will deliver a funky retro psychedelic style set that will get the night going!
The Ron Holloway Band
Baltimore loves Ron Holloway Band! We’ve had the pleasure of watching Ron Holloway perform multiple times throughout Baltimore and D.C. His band will surely light up Canton Waterfront Park!
Illiterate Light
Harrisonburg, Virginia duo will rock out on June 6th. These two have been friends in addition to musical partners. They have shared many adventures together including running an organic farm in the Shenandoah. We are looking forward to their set!
Remember – music starts at 5:30 PM! Admission is always free but be sure to come hungry so you can enjoy local food trucks and food stands while you take in the music! For more information, visit WTMD’s website and we hope to see you there!
