On Monday evening I ventured into downtown York, PA to see the Tedeschi Trucks Band. This show was dubbed as Fireside Live, meaning that it was a scaled down version of the usual 12 piece Tedeschi Trucks Band.
To start the evening though, Raye Zaragoza opened the show. This solo singer-songwriter warmed up the sold out crowd with some original songs. She was immensely entertaining not to mention a talented singer, musician and songwriter. She is definitely on my radar to see again sometime somewhere.
After a short intermission it was time Susan and Derek, the bands namesakes and the rest of the Fireside Live Band to take the Appell Center Stage. They did not disappoint. Susan with her trademark vocal style and Derek with his awesome slide guitar skills and his straight up masterful musicianship had the crowd on their feet. They played several of their songs with awesome TTB stylish covers. Derek and the Dominos “Keep on Growing” and Clapton’s ”Bell Bottom Blues” had the crowd rocking’. I have been a fan of Derek’s guitar styling since first seeing him with this Allman Brothers days and then some years ago to start the TTB with his talented wife Susan and the many talented musicians that support this band is simply bliss. Always entertaining and one of those shows where you are still humming or singing the songs you heard that evening.
Hats off to the Appell Center and their excellent staff for creating a first class show at a first class venue.
