From the moment the crowd starting filing into the Gordon Center, it was unclear to me if this was going to turn into the usual energetic Dustbowl Revival show. Chatting with the sound man before the show, he expressed that even he was unsure. However, the mellow mood was slowly building into a theater of energy.
As the band walked on the stage you could here the silence and felt that this performance was going to surprise some people. The band kicked off with “I Decided” and went straight into a cover of The Band’s “Don’t Do It”. As they left the stage for intermission, front man Zach Lupetin said, “Next set we want to see you on the dance floor!”
The band came back on stage and the crowd was finally ready to oblige. After the rousing energy of “Call Me By My Name”, the crowd was captured and things went full steam ahead. The dance party was a-go. The highlight of the night was a beautiful cover of “Dreams” by Fleetwood Mac. Liz’s voice was so on point. As a result, she had successfully channeled Stevie Nicks.
You don’t want to miss this band. When they return to the area, this is a show you want to see! Dustbowl Revival do not disappoint. Their self titled about is out. Here is where you can find it!
