During my youth, cruising the back roads and listening to music was a thing that we all did for entertainment. There was no Google or Spotify or even for that matter personal computers, yes I’m old! So when a song came on the radio you had to wait until the DJ would tell you the artist and song title. One evening I heard a song on the radio and didn’t catch the name of the song much less the artist, I just knew I loved it! Come to find out later it was Steve Forbert’s Romeo’s Tune. To this day it is one of my favorite songs, so when I found out Steve had a show at the historic Manor Mill in Monkton, Md Saturday,I knew I had to be there.
In his career Steve Forbert has released over 20 albums with his latest, Moving Through America in 2022. Still playing his vintage Gibson J45 and blending in the harmonica, Steve was backed up by George Nana who smoothly provided tracks on his classic Fender Tele. I recall George saying his guitar was a 66’.
These gentlemen put on an excellent performance that would probably be classified as the Americana genre today, but this sound was considered folk to roots to rock. Steve Forbert definitely blazed his own path through his journey through music.
Enjoy these photos from the Manor Mill this past Saturday, April 8th. If you have not had the pleasure of seeing a performance here yet, make sure to check it out soon!
