WRNR hosted an amazing holiday show at the Ottobar this month – the 2019 Snowball. We were treated to an amazing performance by both bands – Illiterate Light and Cold War Kids.
Illiterate Light opened the evening with a powerful, guitar-filled set that was easily worthy of an opening performance. This duo from Virginia have performed a few times in this area. I had the pleasure of catching them at WTMD’s First Thursday over the summer and loved their performance. However, their delivery this time was off-the-hook amazing and I am quite sure that they gained several new followers after this show!
Cold War Kids made a rare “small club” appearance for this show. The night before, they performed for the DC101-derland at The Anthem which was sold out. They went from playing to 6,000 people to about 600 the following night. I could not believe how great their performance was. It was clear that the band was enjoying the night just as much as the audience was! I am so grateful that I was able to see them perform at such a small venue!
Thanks to WRNR for pulling together a great night of music! Check out photos of Illiterate Light and Cold War Kids performing at the Ottobar on December 13th. All photos copyright and courtesy of Shantel Mitchell Breen.
