Some of the best places to see shows are not necessarily in arenas or stadiums. Just walking up to the 9:30 Club is a spiritual journey. Then, you turn the corner, and you see a line of music lovers that wraps around the block, you realize you’re at church. Well, on this Sunday night church was sold out!
Marcus King Band was here to stand on the pulpit and bring the sermon of soul and blues music to their flock. Playing their 5th sold out show in a row proves that this is a musical journey that needs to be seen before it takes off to big venues. Opener, Ian Noe, captivated the crowd with his mix of storytelling songs like Chris Knight and The Band.
As Marcus King Band took the stage, you could feel the hair stand up and time stand still. I have only witnessed Marcus King once before. He and his band flow together like electric, creating such a beautiful sound. If the night wasn’t perfect enough, Marcus brings his father out to trade licks. Music runs deep here.
Get out there and see these guys soon. It is spiritual. Enjoy these photos of Ian Noe and Marcus King Band performing Sunday night at the 930 Club. All photos copyright and courtesy of Brandon Amos.
