Hi! My names Alex and I’m a 20 year old music and sound nerd who’s got a love for photography as well.
My love and passion for music originates from car rides with my mom and listening to Richard Blades radio shows. From there spawned my love for David Bowie, David Byrne, The The, Roxy Music etc. Around the same time I discovered Kraftwerk, as an 8 year old (thank you MTV Jams throwback). I think looking back on it the reason I love music so much, which is the same for a lot of people, is its ability to showcase deeper things within and around our society at any given time. Certain songs or musicians tell a story larger than themselves about a place or a time or an era. I grew to embrace every genre from the Nowave sounds of NYC’s 80’s, the 90’s renaissance of raw Hip Hop, and the 2000’s explosion of indie rock.
I’m originally from New York City, but we moved to Washington D.C days after 9/11. We’ve been here ever since. We live around the corner from Jiffy Lube Live and I can recall overhearing Radiohead, Coldplay, Depeche Mode, and so many others from our backyard. My first concert was at Royal Farms Arena for Kanye West on the Yeezus Tour. I remember my first show at 9:30 club was Dan Auerbach in 2018 and that was the night my life changed. I made two very close friends who are partly responsible for my love and passion for concert photography. From there I spent the latter half of 2018 spending my own money to get into gigs and take photos on my phone. Now I’ve gotten a proper camera and shoot for this wonderful blog and a UK publication as well.
I tend to lean to the electronic, indie, punk side of things these days, but I listen to literally every genre. I could go on for hours talking about certain bands and here’s a small list of which ones.
