First Thursdays Return to Canton Waterfront Park

Next Thursday, May 2, WTMD will kick off their annual First Thursdays Concerts in the Park series! On the first Thursday from May-September, WTMD will present a variety of musicians on two stages within the park. First Thursday concerts are free and the perfect way to unwind to great music with friends! Canton Waterfront Park offers great views on the water, and there are plenty of food and drink vendors for an enjoyable evening! Gates open at 5pm and music starts at 5:30pm.

On the West Stage

Mt. Joy

Mt. Joy are 5-piece indie-rock band from LA; however, they have roots in Philadelphia. Their band is actually named after the mountain, (Mount Joy) in Valley Forge National Park (outside of Philadelphia). They released their self-titled debut album in March of 2018 and have toured with The Head and the Heart. Check out their song, “Silver Lining” which they recently performed on Conan.

Raul Midón

Raul Midón is a singer/song writer who has quite an impressive story. Although blind, he has been playing music since he was very young. He spent some time touring as a backup singer with Shakira then branched off to start his solo career. His music blends elements of jazz with R&B! Check him out on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert and don’t miss his set on May 2!

Cautious Clay

Cautious Clay is the solo project of Joshua Karpeh. He recently quit his job in real estate in New York so he could pursue a music career full-time and he has been getting a lot of attention!

On the Maryland Department of Agriculture Stage

Jah Works

Jah Works is no stranger to folks in Baltimore! This local band will be sure to close the night out with their roots/reggae favorites that will get everyone in the mood for summer!

Strykers’ Posse

Strykers’ Posse is another band local to Baltimore. This band is led by two dynamic female musicians, known by many as the “Queens of Reggae. They will be surely bring the reggae sounds of summer to Canton Waterfront Park!

Shangoband

Local to D.C., Shangoband is a positive roots/rock/reggae band that will create a great mood for the evening! Be sure to catch their set which will kick off the evening on the Maryland Department of Agriculture Stage!
