When Dirty Honey came into Baltimore, they were flying high. Their song, “When I’m Gone”, has hit #1 on the Media Base Active Rock chart and they’re getting ready to drop their video for their rocking single,”Rolling 7s”. I had an opportunity to sit down with the band before they hit the stage at MECU Pavilion on Sunday, September 22nd.
As we were hanging in the dressing room, I asked the band, “What are some of your musical influences?” Not surprising, given their style of music, they replied with those big guns from the 70’s! Of course Aerosmith was on the list, as well as, AC/DC, and Led Zeppelin. They also incluced Soundgarden and Guns-n-Roses. “Also the attitude of all those bands are similar to us. that dirty, gritty foot stomping, hip shaking music”.
From the guitar players perspective the influences are evident in the songs they play. From Kieth Richards, Joe Perry, and Slash…. John Notto is, no doubt, from that lineage.
When you listening to the band’s 6-song EP, you realize that the “good time, hard hitting, shake-yo-ass” rock-n-roll is alive and well. The attitude that Dirty Honey brings to the stage is a swagger that we just don’t see much anymore, however, you will now!
Please go and check these guys out! You wont be disappointed. Check out the video of their latest single, “Rolling 7s” and enjoy photos from their performance at MECU Pavilion on September 22nd. All photos copyright and courtesy of Brandon Amos.
